Clear trial of Ibrahim عليه سلام and reward of good doer and his patient son

And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.

As-Saffat 37:100

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous

As-Saffat 37:101

So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.

As-Saffat 37:102

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think."  He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded.  You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."

As-Saffat 37:103

And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,

As-Saffat 37:104

We called to him, "O Abraham,

As-Saffat 37:105

You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

As-Saffat 37:106

Indeed, this was the clear trial.

Allah's guidance, shivering of the skin and then relaxing of skin and hearts on remembrance of Allah

Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray -  for him there is no guide.

Descendants of Prophets

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem before

Al-An'am 6:84

And We gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - all [of them] We guided. And Noah, We guided before; and among his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the doers of good.

_____from Tafsir ibn katheer_____

Allah states that after Ibrahim became old and he, and his wife, Sarah, lost hope of having children, He gave them Ishaq. The angels also gave them the good news that Ishaq will be a Prophet and that he will have offspring of his own.

Certainly, one becomes jubilant and joyous when he becomes a grandfather, because this means that his offspring will continue to exist.

It was also expected that if an elderly couple had children, due to the child's weakness, he would have no offspring. This is why Allah delivered the good news of Ishaq and of his son Yaqub, whose name literally means `multiplying and having offspring'.

This was a reward for Ibrahim who left his people and migrated from their land so that he could worship Allah alone. Allah compensated Ibrahim with better than his people and tribe when He gave him righteous children of his own, who would follow his religion, so that his eyes would be comforted by them.

Allah said;

and before him, We guided Nuh...,

meaning, We guided Nuh before and gave him righteous offspring, just as We guided Ibrahim and gave him righteous children.
Qualities of Nuh and Ibrahim

Each of these two Prophets had special qualities. When Allah caused the people of the earth to drown, except those who believed in Nuh and accompanied him in the ark, Allah made the offspring of Nuh the dwellers of the earth thereafter. Ever since that occurred, the people of the earth were and still are the descendants of Nuh.

As for Ibrahim, Allah did not send a Prophet after him but from his descendants. Allah said in other Ayat,

And We ordained among his (Ibrahim's) offspring Prophethood and the Book. (29:27)

______my reflections start here_____

Whenever I read this ayah, I am reminded that Ibrahim asa made this duaa

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.
Surah As-Saaffaat - 37:100

And Subhan Allah, he was granted a righteous child in old age. Not only that he was given the good news of Ishaaq asa but he was granted the good news of grandson Yaqoob asa as well. Not only that but there were amazing prophets from his offspring including Dawood asa and Suleiman asa and Ayyub asa and Yusuf asa and Musa asa and Haroon asa. And the last part of the ayah says

_____duaas I made after reading this ayah_____

Prophet Ibrahim's (as) Duaas

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.
Surah As-Saaffaat - 37:100

Surah Ash-Shu'araa - 26:83-89
My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous.
And grant me an honourable mention in later generations.
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected.
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children,
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.
Surah Ash-Shu'araa - 26:83-89

Oh Allah make me a Muhsin. Ameen

He Whom Allah Guides is the Guided

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem

Al-Kahf 18:17

And [had you been present], you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were [laying] within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah . He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray -  never will you find for him a protecting guide.

____________________________________________________________________________

Allah o Akbar. This ayah is a sign of Allah. Allah is telling how He controlled the sun so that it just gives the benefit to those young boys of faith. Everybody knows sunlight is necessary for our well being and we also know that extra amount of sunlight or sunlight at particular times of day can be harmful for us. But for those young adult Allah controlled the sun to give them the benefit only and to save them from harm. Subhan Allah. Why did Allah did such a big thing for those boys? Because they believed and stood up for truth. Allah o Akbar. And they were young. When we are young, it is most hard time to truly believe and to stand up for truth. Most of the people start to believe in middle age including me on top of the list. In youth it is easy to get distracted. But they didn't. I lost my youth doing that. Subhan Allah. But even now if I truly believe, i have assurance through this ayah that Allah can make things easy for me by controlling His creation, like He controlled the sun for them. Subhan Allah. May Allah make us believe. Ameen.

Trust of being guided, getting direction

Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 62:

He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.

______________

My Lord is with me. He will show me a way out. That was the statement of Musa عليه السلام at the time of great calamity. I can't imagine myself at the bank of a sea and Army of the cruelest king just behind me almost there to catch me and my companions telling me we are overtaken. But I can imagine myself in a situation where I made a important decision and my companions agreed to be with me but when calamity  strikes that my companions start to loose hope. It happens all the time. Start a new task, gather people on a common objective and then one starts to loose hope. Doesn't it impact everybody? Of course it does.

This ayah teaches me the kind of Faith I should have when my companions start talking hopeless stuff and when opposite group is about to overtake me and all who are with me. It teaches me a lesson of leadership. Alhamdolillah.

I have no strength and power except with Allah. But the companions play a very important role. And if the faith of companions start to shake then leader needs to be super strong.

First of all it is hard to visualize the situation Musa عليه السلام was in. He knew he will be followed up by Firon because he made him angry because people started to believe in Lord of the worlds. Now he is next to sea and Army of Firon was behind him and his companions are saying, we will be overtaken.

It must be really hard to keep the morale high in such a difficult situation. But he had a strong faith. That's why he said "my Lord is with me and He will guide me".

SubhanAllah. Whoever Allah wants to save, He will save. And Allah saved Musa عليه السلام and those who were with him. And this is the first story being shared in Soorah الشعراء
Further in this Soorah, stories of many others will be shared where Allah saved the believers.

While doing anything if I have a strong belief that He will guide me, then He will guide, provided what I am doing, I am doing it for Allah's sake.

As a leader, Musa عليه السلام showed confidence and transferred his confidence to his companions instead of panicking. And that's what I need to do when things seem to go wrong. Also sometimes, it feels like things are not going right but then Allah helps all of a sudden just like Allah helped Musa عليه السلام. SubhanAllah.

Oh Allah guide us all and keep us firm on Your path and help us help our companions as well. Ameen.

Kind of patience

Assalamoalaekum

I am sharing an ayah here that inspired me today. If it is of any benefit then all praise to Allah. All the shortcomings are due to me. Oh Allah give us right kind of patience. Oh Allah guide us. Ameen.

_______________

He would have almost led us astray from our gods had we not adhered to them patiently! And they will know, when they see the punishment, who is straying farther off from the path.
(Surah Al-Furqan,25:42)

إِن He would have almost  -  كَادَ He would have almost  -  لَيُضِلُّنَا [surely] misled us  -  عَنْ from  -  ءَالِهَتِنَا our gods  -  لَوْلَآ if not  -  أَن that  -  صَبَرْنَا we had been steadfast  -  عَلَيْهَا to them.\"  -  وَسَوْفَ And soon  -  يَعْلَمُونَ will know  -  حِينَ when  -  يَرَوْنَ they will see  -  ٱلْعَذَابَ the punishment,  -  مَنْ who  -  أَضَلُّ (is) more astray  -  سَبِيلًا (from the) way.  -
_____________

This ayah is about disbelievers who used to think that Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم would mislead them from their gods.

The point that inspired me in this ayah is that they said " لو لا ان صبرنا عليها had we not adhered to them patiently".

I always associated patience with goodness. But this ayah made me think again. These people who mocked Messenger ( peace be on him ) also used to think they were being patient in worshipping their gods. SubhanAllah. And they also had this fear that somebody would mislead them. And that was the reason they didn't want to hear what our beloved Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم had to tell them.

Today I also don't want to hear to everybody because I fear that they would mislead me. And I also think I am patiently adhering to my God.

Then what is the difference between me and them? First of all I can't even think to mock Prophet Muhammad

But There is one more difference which Allah سبحان و تعالى has told in next ayah is that they used to take their desires as their gods.

When i don't want to listen to everybody, I need to make sure that I am not taking my desires as my God.

Oh Allah save us from taking our desires as our God. Ameen. Oh Allah guide us and make us firm. Oh Allah give us patience in worshipping You alone. Ameen.
