Knowledge and Patience

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem 

Al-Kahf 18:68

وَكَيْفَ تَصْبِرُ عَلَىٰ مَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۧ خُبْرًا 

And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge?"

Khidr asa said to Musa asa that how can you have patience for what you don't encompass knowledge. I feel I loose patience when I don't have knowledge. I had worst nausea and vomiting in my pregnancies so much so that doing wudu got difficult because I got nausea even with wudu. But I bear because I knew I am going to get beautiful baby. But other than that  I loose patience because I don't have knowledge what more beautiful can I get if I endure my difficulty with patience. Subhan Allah. May Allah strengthen our iman. Ameen.

Musa and Pharoah's Magicians

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem 

Ta Ha 20:71

قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُ‌و قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْۖ إِنَّهُ‌و لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِى جُذُوعِ ٱلنَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَآ أَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَأَبْقَىٰ 

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring."

Ta Ha 20:72

قَالُوا لَن نُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنَاۖ فَٱقْضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍۖ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَآ 

They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.

Subhan Allah. This story of magicians and Pharoah thrills me. Magicians brought their magic but were made to realize by Allah that Allah is the ultimate Truth. Allah o Akbar. Now after they believed they are tried hard by firon. Very big threat! If somebody tells me I will cut your hands and legs from opposites and crucify you on trunks of palm trees I don't know what will be the condition of my iman. But these magicians said "We will never prefer you over clear proofs and the one who created us." 

Subhan Allah. May Allah keep our iman strengthened. Ameen.

Gift to Musa

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem 

Maryam 19:53

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ‌و مِن رَّحْمَتِنَآ أَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ نَبِيًّا 

And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet.

Beautiful wording. Subhan Allah. Surely Haroon asa was a special gift to Musa asa that Allah granted to Musa asa. Subhan Allah. Allah used the word wahabna not aataina. According to my understanding wahabna is giving special gift and aataina is just giving. Allah o Akbar. And Allah gave him out of His Mercy. Having a helper in your family is the greatest gift because It is the immediate family who know our deepest defects. Musa asa had a problem of speech and Haroon asa knew that so he was the perfect person to help. I also notice that Musa asa didn't feel devalued by taking help of his brother. Big tasks can't be achieved without taking help from others but my ego doesn't let me ask for help. O Allah grant us family out of Your Mercy who become our helpers in pleasing You and help us kill our ego to ask for help from whoever can help us. Ameen.

Strengthening of empty heart

Assalamoalaekum

I am sharing an ayah that inspired me today.

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَارِغًا ۖ إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ لَوْلَا أَنْ رَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And the heart of Musa´s mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers.
(Surah Al-Qasas,28:10)

وَأَصْبَحَ And became  -  فُؤَادُ (the) heart  -  أُمِّ (of the) mother  -  مُوسَىٰ (of) Musa  -  فَٰرِغًا empty.  -  إِن That,  -  كَادَتْ she was near  -  لَتُبْدِى (to) disclosing  -  بِهِۦ about him,  -  لَوْلَآ if not  -  أَن that  -  رَّبَطْنَا We strengthened  -  عَلَىٰ [over]  -  قَلْبِهَا her heart,  -  لِتَكُونَ so that she would be  -  مِنَ of  -  ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers.  -

When I first read, that heart of Musa عليه السلام was free or empty, I didn't understand. On further investigation, I found out her heart was getting empty or free from every thought other than Musa عليه السلام.

It is hard to imagine loosing a child. Loosing a baby is beyond imagining. And she had to put her baby son in river. What an amazing servant of Allah was she! SubhanAllah. But she was a human. And it's natural for a human heart to be overwhelmed with thoughts. And that's what was happening with her. No other thought except of Musa عليه السلام was coming to her mind. And she was about to disclose her secret. But Allah strengthened her heart. Our problems or concerns are not at all comparable to what mother of Musa عليه السلام went through.

This ayah is an inspiration for me for the moments when I act in a certain way and then get overwhelmed by the thoughts of one thing and it makes my heart empty of all other thoughts. There is a reminder in this ayah that only Allah can strengthen our hearts. My job is to ask Allah to strengthen my heart in all these moments. May Allah strengthen the hearts of all of us. Ameen. This ayah is also a reminder that a strong heart is a sign of believer. May Allah help us all in obeying Him, serving Him thankfully and patiently. Ameen.

Trust of being guided, getting direction

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

Assalamoalaekum السلام عليكم

I am sharing an ayah here which inspired me today. If it is of any benefit then all praise to Allah. All the shortcomings are due to me. Oh Allah help us remember and benefit from Your ayahs. Ameen.

Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 62:
قَالَ كَلَّا إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ

He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.

My Lord is with me. He will show me a way out. That was the statement of Musa عليه السلام at the time of great calamity. I can't imagine myself at the bank of a sea and Army of the cruelest king just behind me almost there to catch me and my companions telling me we are overtaken. But I can imagine myself in a situation where I made a important decision and my companions agreed to be with me but when calamity  strikes that my companions start to loose hope. It happens all the time. Start a new task, gather people on a common objective and then one starts to loose hope. Doesn't it impact everybody? Of course it does.


This ayah teaches me the kind of Faith I should have when my companions start talking hopeless stuff and when opposite group is about to overtake me and all who are with me. It teaches me a lesson of leadership. Alhamdolillah.

I have no strength and power except with Allah. لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله But the companions play a very important role. And if the faith of companions start to shake then leader needs to be super strong.

First of all it is hard to visualize the situation Musa عليه السلام was in. He knew he will be followed up by Firon because he made him angry because people started to believe in Lord of the worlds. Now he is next to sea and Army of Firon was behind him and his companions are saying, we will be overtaken.

It must be really hard to keep the morale high in such a difficult situation. But he had a strong faith. That's why he said "my Lord is with me and He will guide me".

SubhanAllah. Whoever Allah wants to save, He will save. And Allah saved Musa عليه السلام and those who were with him. And this is the first story being shared in Soorah الشعراء
Further in this Soorah, stories of many others will be shared where Allah saved the believers.

While doing anything if I have a strong belief that He will guide me, then He will guide, provided what I am doing, I am doing it for Allah's sake.

As a leader, Musa عليه السلام showed confidence and transferred his confidence to his companions instead of panicking. And that's what I need to do when things seem to go wrong. Also sometimes, it feels like things are not going right but then Allah helps all of a sudden just like Allah helped Musa عليه السلام. SubhanAllah. 

Oh Allah guide us all and keep us firm on Your path and help us help our companions as well. Ameen.

Bringing up a child and his many years with us

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

Assalamoalaekum السلام عليكم

I am sharing an ayah today that inspired me today. If it is of any benefit then all praise to Allah. All the shortcoming are due to me. Oh Allah help us remember Your favors on us and help us expect reward only from You. Ameen.

Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 18:
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ

(Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life?

Did we not bring you up as child? Sound familiar?  That was Pharoa's question to Musa عليه السلام

I wonder why did he say so? He was a king. He must have many servants who must have taken care of Musa عليه السلام

Or may be it is her wife who must have taken care of Musa عليه السلام or may be it was mother of Musa عليه السلام who must have brought him up while he was a child to save him from every evil that must have been present there in presence of Pharoah. SubhanAllah.

But both of the mothers  didn't say "didn't I bring you up as a child". Why? Because they expected thier reward from Allah. Allah o Akbar. May Allah help us become mothers like those. Ameen.

I seek refuge that I ever utter this statement "didn't I bring you up as I child and you tarried among me for many years of your life".

I wonder why could a king say that "didn't I bring you up as a child? May be out of arrogance, or self sufficiency or may be out of self reliance, or may be due to ungratefulness (He should have been grateful to see a baby growing up) or may be out of resentment, or because of his Qadr or due to lack of tawakkul trust, or may be because he adopted him.

Whatever it was, it was wrong to say statement like that.

I need to remind myself to seek refuge to have such mentality. It is natural to expect from  somebody, you suffer sleepless nights, pains, fatigue and they remain with you for many years and you take care of them for many years.

But I need to remind myself that it's Allah blessings to have them whether it's your own or adopted. Ask somebody who doesn't have a child. It's a blessing to see their first steps, their first smiles, giggles, babbles, to listen to their first words, to see their first mischief, their first day of school, college, their marriage, to see their first baby.  No other joy can be compared with these. Also I need to remind myself that if I have the opportunity to bring them up, it is a gift from Allah that I can serve His creation. And I need to make my intentions pure that if I am bringing them, that is for Allah, not for the expectation that they serve me back or say whatever I want them to think or say.

I need to remind myself that having resentment when they leave your ways was a style of Pharoah. May Allah save us all from the footsteps of Pharoah.  Ameen.

Trust of Musa عليه سلام on his Lord

اعوذ بالله من الشيطن الرجيم

Surah 26. Ash-Shuara, Verse 61:

فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ

Translation:

And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

Surah 26. Ash-Shuara, Verse 61:

فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ

Translation:

And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

Are we patient enough?

اعوذ بالله من الشيطن الرجيم

Surah 18. Al-Kahf, Verse 65:

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا

Translation:

Then they found one of Our slaves, unto whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us.

Surah 18. Al-Kahf, Verse 66:

قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَىٰ هَلْ أَتَّبِعُكَ عَلَىٰ أَن تُعَلِّمَنِ مِمَّا عُلِّمْتَ رُشْدًا

Translation:

Musa (Moses) said to him (Khidr) "May I follow you so that you teach me something of that knowledge (guidance and true path) which you have been taught (by Allah)?"

Surah 18. Al-Kahf, Verse 67:

قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِيَ صَبْرًا

Translation:

He (Khidr) said: "Verily! You will not be able to have patience with me!

Surah 18. Al-Kahf, Verse 68:

وَكَيْفَ تَصْبِرُ عَلَىٰ مَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ خُبْرًا

Translation:

"And how can you have patience about a thing which you know not?"
