Duaa for Distress

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

Al-Anbiya 21:88

So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.

Al-Anbiya 21:89

And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors."

Al-Anbiya 21:90

So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.

Righteous Offspring

And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.

______from Tafsir ibn Katheer____

And We bestowed upon him Ishaq, and Ya`qub Nafilatan.

Ata' and Mujahid said,

"Nafilatan means as a gift."

Ibn Abbas, Qatadah and Al-Hakam bin `]Uyaynah said,

"The gift of a son who has a son,"

meaning that Yaqub was the son of Ishaq, as Allah says:

But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaq, and after Ishaq, of Yaqub. (11:71)

Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam said,

"He asked for one (son), and said,

"My Lord! Grant me from the righteous." (37:100)

So Allah gave him Ishaq, and gave him Yaqub in addition.

Each one We made righteous.

means, both of them were good and righteous people.

Scales of Justice

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem before

 Al-Anbiya 21:47

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

________My comments start here____

Allah o Akbar. All praise is for Allah and He is free from any imperfection. Subhan Allah.
Every time I read this ayah, I am more convinced of Allah as the Most Supreme King Malik ul Mulke Dholjalal wal ikraam.

Who can be a better king than Allah? Nobody. Can anybody be as just as Allah? Can anybody be as just as the one who can bring something as small as the weight of a mustard seed?
Can somebody other than Allah be a better accountant? Can somebody other than Allah keep an account of what we utter from tongue?

I was just hearing this lecture that it is easiest to commit sin with the tongue because we don't realize what we utter. It takes time to commit sins with any other organ. For example if we hit somebody unjustly, our hands can ache and it needs strength in hand itself to hit or commit sin subhan Allah. To commit sin with legs I need to walk or make effort to use my legs. To make sin with eyes, something has to come in front of eyes or if I have weak iman i still have to use my eyes to reach what I want to watch. So I am convinced, it is easiest to commit sin with a tongue because it requires least effort and our tongue doesn't tire talking Subhan Allah. If i cannot realize what i utter with my tongue. how can I take account of it? And if I am unjust in my talk, people remember it and Allah remembers it and when scales of justices are established, Allah will make justice with whomever I wronged. May Allah make us just. Ameen. May Allah save us all from disgrace of that day when scales of justice will be established and Allah will bring everything even if it is as small as mustard seed and when no soul will be dealt unjustly. Ameen.

Heaven and Earth Joined Entity

 Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem

 Al-Anbiya 21:30

Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

____ my comments here_____

I am amazed by this ayah. I never noticed that heavens and earth were a joined entity and Allah separated them and that's a blessing for us as well. And i never knew night was first and then day came Subhan Allah. And with separation of earth and heavens came rain from sky and vegetation from earth. It strengthens my belief that Allah doesn't do anything without purpose and whatever He does is for our benefit. May Allah make us appreciate His wisdom and May Allah make us appreciate the wisdom in His ayahs and May Allah make us grateful. Ameen.

_______hadith from From Tafsir ibn kathir begin here_____

 Sufyan Ath-Thawri narrated from his father from Ikrimah that Ibn Abbas was asked;

"Did the night come first or the day?"

He said,

"Do you think that when the heavens and the earth were joined together, there was anything between them except darkness! Thus you may know that the night came before the day.

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Ibn Umar said that;

a man came to him and questioned him about when the heavens and earth were joined together then they were parted.

He said, "Go to that old man (Sheikh) and ask him, then come and tell me what he says to you."

So he went to Ibn Abbas and asked him. Ibn Abbas said:

"Yes, the heavens were joined together and it did not rain, and the earth was joined together and nothing grew. When living beings were created to populate the earth, rain came forth from the heavens and vegetation came forth from the earth."

The man went back to Ibn Umar and told him what had been said.

Ibn Umar said, "Now I know that Ibn Abbas has been given knowledge of the Qur'an. He has spoken the truth, and this is how it was."

Ibn Umar said:"I did not like the daring attitude of Ibn Abbas in his Tafsir of the Qur'an, but now I know that he has been given knowledge of the Qur'an.

Trial with evil and good

Surah 21. Al-Anbiya, Verse 35:

Translation:
Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us you will be returned.
