Why does Allah let people stray after guidance?

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْمًۢا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدٰىهُمْ حَتّٰى يُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ مَّا يَتَّقُونَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
And Allah would not let a people stray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them what they should avoid. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things.
[QS. At-Tawba: Verse 115]


I always used to wonder why Allah says in Quran that Allah guides many and Allah misguided many. If Allah had to misguide somebody then what's the use of trying anyway. This ayah gives the answer. Allah let's go astray anybody only after they know what they need to get themselves protected.


Doesn't it happen that sometimes we know what to avoid but still we engage in it. Then in that case we should be ready that Allah can let us astray after guidance. Oh Allah give us the strength and perseverance to avoid the things that became clear to us. Ameen. Oh Allah we are weak. Please don't let us go astray after things become clear on us.

اَللّٰهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ الْقُلُوْبِ صَرِّفْ قُلُوْبَنَا عَلَی طَاعَتِكَ

O Allah! The One who turns the hearts, turn my heart towards Your obedience.

اے ﷲ ! دلوں کو پھیرنے والے ہمارے دلوں کو اپنی اطاعت کی طرف پھیر دے۔
