We need a company for being patient

Surah 18. Al-Kahf, Verse 28:

Translation:
And keep yourself (O Muhammad SAW) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, etc., and other righteous deeds, etc.) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face, and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, one who follows his own lusts and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.

  1. Influences... We all have influences sometimes from family, sometimes from friends, sometimes from co workers, sometimes from neighbors, sometimes from social media, sometimes from employees, and even sometimes from our kids. Subhan Allah! And also it is hard to persist in any activity unless we have a company whether it is shopping or drama watching or fashion or playing sports or dieting or reading. Then how can we assume that we can maintain patience alone? We need a company to remain patient. Here is a guideline to find the company for being patient. These are the people who call their Lord morning and afternoon seeking pleasure of Allah.

  2. How do we overlook this kind of company? There are people around us, all different kind of people and yet we are warned not to overlook this particular kind of people. And yet we overlook them. Reason is also mentioned right here. Because we start to desire the beauty of this world and then we forget to find people who call their Lord morning and evening. Also we are reminded not to follow somebody who doesn't remember Allah. What a great formula to be persistent on path of patience. Truly patience cannot be maintained alone.

  3. Also we are told not to follow somebody who follows their own desires. How do we find that out? Knowledge of hearts is only with Allah and each one of us, me on the top of the list, is thinking we r not following our desires and yet we do follow our desires. Then how do we make sure that we don't follow our desires and how do we make sure we are not in a company who don't follow their desires? With my worn off brain the only thing comes to mind is making dua and to find people who make duaa. Find this duaa very helpful.

O Ever Living One, O Eternal One, by Your mercy I call on You to set right all my affairs. Do not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment).
