Help One Another in Righteousness and Piety

 Al-Maidah 5:2

O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.

_______from Tafsir ibn kathir____

Allah commands His believing servants to help one another perform righteous, good deeds, which is the meaning of `Al-Birr`, and to avoid sins, which is the meaning of `At-Taqwa`.

Allah forbids His servants from helping one another in sin, Ithm; and committing the prohibitions.

Ibn Jarir said that,

"Ithm means abandoning what Allah has ordained, while transgression means overstepping the limits that Allah set in your religion, along with overstepping what Allah has ordered concerning yourselves and others."

Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik said that the Messenger of Allah said,

Support your brother whether he was unjust or the victim of injustice.

He was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! We know about helping him when he suffers injustice, so what about helping him when he commits injustice?"

He said,

Prevent and stop him from committing injustice, and this represents giving support to him.

Al-Bukhari recorded this Hadith through
Hushaym.

Ahmad recorded that one of the Companions of the Prophet narrated the Hadith,

The believer who mingles with people and is patient with their annoyance, earns more reward than the believer who does not mingle with people and does not observe patience with their annoyance.

________My reflections here______

This ayah reminds me to help each other in righteousnous and piety and not to cooperate in sin and aggression. But I am noticing we as Muslims don't cooperate in righteousness and piety while we are told not to cooperate in sin and aggression. Every Muslim organization (school, mosque, charity organisation) big or small starts up with great plans and sooner or later gets divided. Because we Muslims start to believe that we are the best and that creates the disputes among the people in the group. Satan also plays a very important role in creating ill feelings in hearts of Muslims for other Muslims. Family structures are getting affected as well because we have stopped to cooperate on righteousness and piety. Why? Because we are thinking every other person is committing sin. The reason that comes to my mind is because we stopped fearing Allah. And that's what Allah reminded us here.

How can we know what is actually a sin until we fear Allah? I might actually be committing sins myselves without realizing. To me ruining the honor a muslim brother or a sister is a sin. To me belittling someone is a sin.I don't know when that Muslim brother or sister whose honor i am ruining unjustly become the most beloved to my Lord and just by ruining his or her honor I might become most disliked by my Lord. May Allah save us all from that. Ameen.

Sins are mentioned in Quran. Scholars have compiled books to describe major sins. And yet muslim have a hard time cooperating with people who are not committing major sins.

May Allah increase our taqwa. Ameen. May Allah help us differentiate between sins and righteousness and piety. Ameen and May Allah help us cooperate in righteousness and piety. And May Allah save us in cooperating in sins and aggression.

Help from Allah

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem

Aal-e-Imran 3:160

If Allah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.

This reminds to seek help only from Allah. And to fear Allah forsaking us. Oh Allah help us trust You alone. Ameen.

Seeking help and worshipping

Ramadan is around the corner. A reminder for us that another year passed and Allah gave us another chance to cleanse ourselves. Many ideas or plans are going in my head. And yet I am humbling with the thought that I didn't pass my year as I planned at the end of last Ramadan. Why? Did I ask for help enough? Did I pass my Ramadan correctly? Not really. Alhamdolillah I have another chance to be grateful. All praise and thanks to Allah.

I want this Ramadan to be different. In fact the best ever inshaAllah. A friend of mine always reminds if we want different results, we want to do something different.

I make plans all the time alhamdolillah. And I am able to implement alhamdolillah the items in my plan which are in the top part of my list. But priorities can be wrong.

This Ramadan I plan to do something different. I remember one Ramadan my main focus was to ask hidayah or guidance. And that Ramadan was the best so far. This year my focus would be to ask for help sincerely. So my focus this Ramadan is To You alone we worship and to You alone we seek help.

This is a different plan than previous years.
I plan to renew my intentions each day. And I plan to ask Allah sincerely for help. I need to remind myself continously. There is no power to do good and there is no strength to save myself from bad except with Allah.

I have to remind myself if I am seeking Allah's help, I have to worship Him alone. Isn't it true when we seek help from anybody we start to be nice to that somebody?

When we need help we also get very polite and also we get creative to praise that somebody.

If I need Allah's help, all I need is to worship Allah.

But how? What is one regular step I have to take in implementing my plan for this Ramadan or for my life ahead? My jammed mind says at least start every task with
Not just lip movements. But actually contemplating on Allah names الرحمن and الرحيم . I need to begin this Ramadan with بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم If Allah is الرحمن and if i seek help sincerely how is it possible that He is not going to help me? Only if I stop worshipping Him. How can I make sure if I am worshipping him right?

Again my mostly unused mind suggests to make duaa. And the best duaa that comes to my mind for doing worship in the best way is O Allah help me on Your rememberance and on Your gratefulness and best of Your worship.

May Allah reward you for reading. If it has any good, it is from  Allah and all its shortcomings are short comings in me. Keep me in your prayers.

Allah helps those who help His cause

Surah 22. Al-Hajj, Verse 40:

Translation:
Those who have been expelled from their homes unjustly only because they said: "Our Lord is Allah." - For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the Name of Allah is mentioned much would surely have been pulled down. Verily, Allah will help those who help His (Cause). Truly, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty.

Satan will say I had no authority on you

Surah 14. Ibrahim, Verse 22:

Translation:
And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)."
