Assalamoalaekum
I am sharing an ayah which inspires me all the time. If it is of any benefit then all praise to Allah. All the shortcoming are due to me.

Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 84:
And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity

This was the duaa of Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام And Allah granted Ibrahim عليه السلام this duaa.
Because Allah said,
____________
Surah As-Saaffat, Verse 108-110:
And We perpetuated (praise) to him in later generations.
Peace be on Ibrahim.
Thus do We reward the doers of good.
__________
Whoever knows about prophets will appreciate the personality of Ibrahim
Who doesn't want a goodly mention? I do too. I wish whenever I am mentioned, I am mentioned in a good way. But I am doing nothing like Ibrahim
I am thinking why Ibrahim عليه السلام made that dua. He was accused by his nation and by his own father. It was a big trial. What I am today, I see a big contribution of my father in it. Alhamdolillah. So Ibrahim عليه السلام didn't have an honorable mention in his father's mind and his nation. And yet he made duaa for honorable mention in later generations not in that generation. It reminds me not to worry too much if I don't have honorable mention in current generation, but I need to work really hard to have an honorable mention in later generations inshaAllah.
SubhanAllah. This ayah reminds me to make duaa as well for an honorable mention in later generations inshaAllah.
How many do we even mention from former generations today? An average person after his/her death is usually remembered by spose, siblings, parents if alive, friends and acquaintances, kids and grandkids. But mention of a person in great grand kids is rarely seen. And look at Ibrahim عليه السلام He is mentioned in a good manner by people of any religion today. MashaAllah.
It reminds me that having an honorable mention during my absence is much more important than my honorable mention in my presence.
