Allah accepts only from who fears Him

And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].
[QS. Al-Maaida: Verse 27]

SubhanAllah! Fear of Allah is mandatory for acceptance of our deeds. We do so many deeds hoping Allah will accept it and yet without fear of Allah no deed will be accepted. This ayah pictures the fearless attitude of the boy from whom sacrifice is not accepted because he still threatens his brother of killing him. Also it pictures that the boy whose deed is not accepted knows his deed is not accepted. But we don't know whether our deed is accepted or not. But one thing we can observe is the attitude of people mentioned in Quran after they do a deed.

Allah mentions in Soorah Almuminoon

And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord -
[QS. Al-Muminoon: Verse 60]

This also reinforces the idea of fear after doing a deed.

What task could have bigger than building Kaaba? And yet Ibrahim asa and Ismael asa were making this duaa for acceptance of their deed.

And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.
[QS. Al-Baqara: Verse 127]

Allah also mentions in Soorah Al Ahqaf the kind of people from whom deed will be accepted

And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."
[QS. Al-Ahqaf: Verse 15]

Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.
[QS. Al-Ahqaf: Verse 16]

These two ayah also show the required humility from a person about whom Allah said "We will accept best of what they did." First of all these kind of people are asking for gratefulness and then asking Allah to guide them to do deeds and then they repent and they ask Allah for their offspring and not just confidant about themselves.
