Quran is a way of life because it gives us hints for everything including personality development. And Allah has a unique way to motivate humans to do something which is good for them. Most of us want a reward when someone asks us to do something. Allah knew human psychology so He mentioned the benefit of gratefulnes as well. And the benefit of gratefulness according to Quran is that Allah will give us more if we are grateful.
Subhan Allah! That is great Generosity of Allah. Allah is شكور The Most Appreciative. If we just thank what Allah has given, He will increase it. Are we really grateful? Or do we just think we are grateful?
Gratefulness requires our conscious mind.

Take for example I am having pain. I need to be grateful for days when I didn't have a pain and I was not grateful and still Allah gave me life for today to realize to be grateful.
Take for example I just forgot to pick up banana when I went for grocery and I know my baby eats banana. I need to be grateful that in my today's reading of Quran Allah reminded me to be grateful/ thankful and also Allah gave me a chance to try to feed my baby something different.
Take for example my spouse wants tea while I am in the middle of this writing while I have all the thought what to write and my baby is sleeping. I need to be grateful that I can serve him and that way I can make Allah happy. I need to thank Allah that I have my hands and eyes to make the tea. I need to thank Allah that I have a sound mind to make tea. I need to thank Allah that He provided me so much. الحمد لله All the praise and thanks to Allah.
But being grateful is not automatic. If it was automatic, then Allah wouldn't have taught us prayers in Quran to be grateful.
Surah 27. An-Naml, Verse 19:
Translation:
So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves."
If being grateful or being thankful was automatic then Prophet of Allah wouldn't have taught us this duaa.
الهم أعني على ذكرك و شكرك و حسن عبادتك
Oh Allah help me on Your remembrance and on being grateful to You on best of Your worship.
Also Allah reminded us to have تقوى in order to be grateful.
Surah 3. Aal-e-Imran, Verse 123:
وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

And Allah has already made you victorious at Badr, when you were a weak little force. So fear Allah much [abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden and love Allah much, perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained] that you may be grateful.
I am grateful that Allah gave me the chance to be inspired by Quran and He gave me the chance to at least try to inspire you.
