Distress

Aaoodhoo billahe minashaitan rajeem 

Aal-e-Imran 3:154

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْۖ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِۖ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُ‌و لِلَّهِۗ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَۖ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَٰهُنَاۗ قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْۖ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ 

Then after distress, He sent down upon you security [in the form of] drowsiness, overcoming a faction of you, while another faction worried about themselves, thinking of Allah other than the truth -  the thought of ignorance, saying, "Is there anything for us [to have done] in this matter?" Say, "Indeed, the matter belongs completely to Allah ." They conceal within themselves what they will not reveal to you. They say, "If there was anything we could have done in the matter, some of us would not have been killed right here." Say, "Even if you had been inside your houses, those decreed to be killed would have come out to their death beds." [It was] so that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purify what is in your hearts. And Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.

I just fall in love in this ayah all the time. Allah o Akbar.

I will try to share how I feel about this ayah and how blessed I feel to have this ayah.

First thing I appreciate that Allah mentioned the when a person is distressed, it is beneficial for him to take a sleep or slumber or somehow Allah makes him drowsy. Subhan Allah and even that can happen with the help of Allah. People in distress have hard time sleeping and Allah due to insecurities of some form. And blessed this one group with security in form of drowsiness or sleep or slumber. Alhamdolillah if we are able to sleep in our distress that a blessing alhamdolillah. But the second group was thinking about Allah without the truth. That's the condition of people of insecurity or weak iman. They feel bad on losing control. They question if they have any control. Allah o Akbar. Allah has the full control. And yet sometimes we feel sad loosing control. And what a beautiful ending of this ayah. That Allah did all this to test what is in the breast and to purify what is in the heart. May Allah purify our hearts. Ameen.
